Year 10 Scientific Thinking Challenge

Year 10 have been putting their scientific knowledge to the test, applying analytical skills and lateral thinking in a Scientific Thinking Challenge.

They were given the opportunity to apply their scientific knowledge in unfamiliar contexts, which required lateral thinking and advanced analytical skills.

The students were put through their paces with a number of varied and thought provoking challenges. These included considering the problems weirs cause fish when they attempt to swim upstream to spawn, potential methods to manufacture hydrogen gas for greener steel production, the study of pulsars, and looking at how gene editing can be used to treat illness.

Joseph S, Tom L, Ram P and Aryan K all produced work of a very high standard but this year's Hymers Year 10 champion scientific thinker was Troy L.

Congratulations to Troy who was presented with a prize in recognition of his achievement by Mr Stanley in assembly.
