Young Scientists
Every year our Year 12 MedSoc students plan and lead an interactive science activity with pupils from Year 6.
Emre and Eva Maria took the helm this year, planning and delivering a fantastic session using microscopes. The Junior School pupils were tasked with examining some samples under the microscopes to identify and observe paramecium, a single-celled freshwater animal.
Year 6, who were joined by new Head of Junior School, Mrs Cowan, thoroughly enjoyed the practical activity, which included becoming more familiar with the equipment under the expert guidance and support of the Year 12 mentors. They also participated in a fun quiz and word search.
⭐ Well done to Emre and Eva Maria for delivering such an engaging and successful session.
MedSoc, which is open to Years 10 to 13, is just one of the 100 plus co-curricular activities for our students to enjoy.
“Running the microscope practical was a chance to turn curiosity into understanding and help our Junior School students investigate science as something they can practice beyond their classroom.”
“Their eagerness and curiosity to engage made the sessions so enjoyable and beneficial for both Medsoc and Year 6. It was amazing to show them something they wouldn’t normally learn about at this age.”
