49 years and out

Head of our Grounds team Graham Marris retires after 49 years at Hymers.

Graham with the Grounds team Mark, Chris and Tony

In the year that Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Silver Jubilee, Virginia Wade won Wimbledon, James Callaghan was Prime Minister and Manchester United won the FA Cup, Graham started working at Hymers College in 1977.

What was only to be a one day job that his father had arranged for him turned into a life’s work to keep the grounds and site of Hymers looking magnificent. Graham’s dedication to his work is plain to see.
Graham is a kind, thoughtful and compassionate man and I will miss his friendship and his passion for all sports.
