Congratulations to Sameer as he joins UK Lions Hockey

Huge congratulations to Sameer on an outstanding hockey achievement!

Earlier this month, Sameer was selected to represent the North East at the U13 Boys Regional Hockey Championship in Nottingham, competing against some of the best young players from across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Following an impressive tournament, Sameer has now been invited to join the prestigious UK Lions Hockey programme for 2026–27. Out of more than 350 players who took part, only 36 were selected for this incredible opportunity.

Founded in 2003, UK Lions identifies and develops some of the most talented U13 and U14 hockey players from across the UK and Ireland, providing elite coaching and competitive experiences both at home and abroad.

We believe Sameer is the first Hymers student to be invited to join UK Lions Hockey – a remarkable achievement and one we are incredibly proud to celebrate.
