Year 8 Periodic Table Competition Winners

Congratulations to the winning entries in the annual Periodic Table design competition.

Third place: William D in 8D - Tin

Second place: Maria P in 8B - Thorium

First place: Bronwyn T in 8D - Rhenium

Every student in Year 8 were asked to design and produce a poster to illustrate their assigned element. The completed display can be viewed opposite C2. The Chemistry Department is delighted and proud of the quality both of many of the entries and of the visual effect of the table as a whole. We are in a good run of high standards at the moment.

This is the 24th year of a competition probably unique in world chemistry.

Thank you to the judges, Annabelle P and Maximilien A, who meticulously and ruthlessly applied the criteria, and published their decision in the week of the announcement of the winners of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2026 to keep the kettle boiling.

Well done!
