South Africa Sports Tour

Pupils in Years 11-13 recently returned from their 10-day international sports tour of South Africa.

Students took part in competitive hockey, netball and rugby fixtures throughout the trip and were greeted with incredible hospitality from the host teams at every stage.

First on the agenda was a visit to the Goedgedacht Trust; a charity helping to break local children out of the cycle of poverty. Students learnt about the work of the Trust and the positive impact it has on those less fortunate. Our pupils spent the day taking part in activities with the children involved in the programme and before leaving made donations of clothing and toiletries to the Trust.

Between fixtures, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in what South Africa had to offer, including a visit to the Cheetah Sanctuary, Aquila Game Reserve (with memorable wildlife encounters!) and penguin spotting at Boulders Beach! The boys also had a tour of Newlands Stadium.

The trip gave students the perfect opportunity to build perspective, understanding and friendships whilst exploring another country and culture through sport.

Thank you to the students for being an absolute credit to themselves and extended thanks goes to the staff that accompanied the tour and ensured its success.
