Salter’s Festival of Chemistry

On Tuesday two teams of Year 8 pupils attended the Salter’s Festival of Chemistry at the University of Hull.

The day consisted of two challenges:

The morning activity called ‘One of Our Elements is Missing’ saw the students use chemical tests on samples left at a crime scene to identify a thief.

The afternoon activity had the students investigating the sulphate content of Coca Cola and the effectiveness of wax in waterproofing paper.

An enjoyable day was had, and one of the teams achieved a fantastic 3rd place in the competition.
