Year 6 Choir are in the finals!
Our Year 6 choir have officially qualified as finalists in the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition for the eighth year running.
Tracey Redhead, Hymers College’s Head of Junior School Music, commented “The children are extremely excited to perform at this very prestigious competition as only 18 choirs get selected from hundreds of applications which means we are one of the top Junior Choirs in the country. We will be competing against some very well-known choirs and to get selected for this for the 8th time is incredible. The experience performing at the Royal Festival Hall in London is wonderful for the children in terms of confidence building as well as a chance to learn from listening to other fantastic musicians and supporting the wonderful charity, Barnardo's.”
“It is going to be a very exciting year for this set of children as they have also been selected to compete at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in July which attracts competitors from around the world. This follows on from the success of last year's choir who came 2nd at this event.”
The final will take place on Monday 4th March at London’s Royal Festival Hall. The winning choir will receive a song written specifically for them alongside the opportunity to sing at a Barnardo’s Young Supporter’s Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
