Junior School Themed Weeks
Following the success of Brazil Week in 2016 and Hull Week in 2017, the Junior School held another themed week. This year’s chosen topic was History.
The aim of the week was to develop and enhance pupil-centred learning, creativity, collaboration and resourcefulness. The pupils were given the responsibility of choosing their own area of study, within the theme of History, from a variety of options prepared by their form teacher.
In groups, the students produced interactive, living exhibitions and presented them to parents, friends of Hymers and fellow students. The week was a great success and encourages pupils to immerse themselves in a particular topic and to work collaboratively with one another.
During each themed week, pupils are empowered to decide for themselves what they wish to concentrate on, expanding their abilities to lead their own learning in and out of the classroom.
