Student Volunteer in Pakistan
October saw Sixth-Form student, Adnan, venture out to Pakistan for a 10-day trip of volunteering with medical charity OPSA (Overseas Plastic Surgery Appeal). Adnan was given the opportunity to observe the OPSA team perform free surgical procedures to poor children and young adults; correcting facial abnormalities including cleft lip and palate. He also conducted research, spent time with patients and assisted the team where needed.
Prior to the trip, Adnan raised funds for the charity and is pictured with OPSA Chairman Mr Nicholas Hart, Medical Team Member, Mr Muhammad Riaz and Hymers College Headmaster, David Elstone. He donated £1,170 to the charity.
We are incredibly proud of Adnan and his efforts.
