Winston Trew Speaks To The Sixth Form
Winston Trew gave this morning’s sixth form Lecture. Winston was arrested in 1972 for pickpocketing at the Oval Tube Station. Despite being found guilty and serving 8 months, Winston has always maintained his innocence. He later discovered that the officer who arrested him was corrupt and ended up serving 7 years for stealing mail bags from trains.
Winston undertook extensive research for a book entitled, “Black for a Cause …. Not Just Because” which tells his story as well as that of the corrupt officer who framed him. Last year another of the officer’s victims, Stephen Simmons, cleared his name in the courts, something that Winston is also hoping to do in the next few months.
