Parth wins gold!

The Royal Society of Chemistry runs an ‘extremely challenging’ written examination for Year 13 students each year as part of its selection process for a team to take part in the International Chemistry Olympiad.

Students this year answered questions ranging from the possible reasons why the diving pool at the Rio Olympics turned green, to the synthesis of the molecules twistane and adamantane.

Parth Kotwal’s score was the second highest in Hymers history and put him in the top 1% of candidates. He was awarded a gold certificate.
