A Level Results 2017

Thursday, 17 August, 2017

Hymers students have, once again, gained a very impressive set of A Level grades. 19.5% of the grades gained the highest award possible, namely an A*. 45% of grades were at A or better. 75.5% of grades were at B or better – the figure that is used in the broadsheet’s national league tables.

This year our pupils sat the first of Michael Gove’s reformed A Levels which include; Art and Design, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English Literature, History, Physics, and Sociology. It would be fair to say that our teachers have been especially interested to see how these new examinations would be marked.

The Headmaster, David Elstone said, “I am absolutely delighted at our results which are the culmination of an enormous amount of work on the part of our students and their teachers”. For three quarters of the grades to gain a B grade or better is a remarkable achievement and will place Hymers amongst the very best schools in the country.”

He continued saying, “what never fails to amaze me is that pupils at Hymers are able to maintain such excellence in their studies alongside total commitment to the many extra-curricular opportunities that together make them who they are.”
