What makes this nominee inspiring?

Simon Hoggart (26 May 1946- 5 January 2014) was a journalist and broadcaster, who attended Hymers College and Wyggeston Boys School in Leicester. He received his degree from Kings College Cambridge where he read English and History and wrote for Varsity.

Simon joined The Guardian in 1968 as correspondent in Northern Ireland and in 1981 went on to become the American correspondent for The Observer.

In the early 1980s Simon appeared as a panellist on The News Quiz, a radio comedy show, returning in 1996 for another 10 years as a chairman. In 1993 Simon became the parliamentary sketch writer for The Guardian, before joining The Spectator as a wine reviewer in 2001. Simon Hoggart also published around 20 books, which included a biography, his personal thoughts on the US and even debunking the supernatural.
