Entry Procedure

The main entry points in to Hymers College are at Years 4, 5, 7 and 12.

However, we may be able to accommodate entry in other years, subject to satisfactory performance in our Entrance Examination and
to the availability of places.

The Entrance Examination at all levels tests reasoning ability, comprehension, mathematics and powers of expression.

The main Entrance Examination takes place on the first Saturday of February for entry the following September, although Entrance Examinations are available throughout the year; contact the General Office for more information about the entrance exams and to arrange a test date if appropriate.

Entry into the Sixth Form is on the basis of GCSE results and an interview.

Parents wishing to enter a child for admission to the College are asked to complete the Application Form and return it to the School Secretary along with a non-refundable registration fee of £25. Students from our 'Associate School' do not have to pay the registration fee. 



Hessle Mount Students

Students from our 'Associate School' - Hessle Mount will not have to sit the Entrance Examination for entry into our Junior School or pay the registration fee.

A system of academic tracking throughout Years 1, 2 and 3 will replace the Entrance Examination, and provided they meet the required standard those pupils will be offered an automatic place at Hymers in Year 4. All pupils will continue to sit an Entrance Examination for entry into the Senior School.
