Year 9 pupil Finlay Ulrick was recently selected to be Captain of the England U14 Ice Hockey team and lead the team in a tournament in the Czech Republic, during December.

This morning, BBC Look North came to the school to film Dr Chris Coulson, who talked about former pupil Professor Edward Arthur Milne, Astrophysicist, who was at Hymers between 1908 and 1914.

The piece will be on Look North at 1.30pm and 6.30pm today.


At the end of term, a couple of Amnesty tea parties 'Amnestea' took place, for year 10 students and 6th formers. The students enjoyed tea and cake whilst writing letters on behalf of victims of injustice around the world.


The Junior School pupils have been busy making delicious Gingerbread houses in aid of the Typhoon Haiyan appeal. The school kitchen kindly baked the dough shapes and the children worked in groups of 4 to decorate them. Raffle tickets were then being sold to raise money.  ...
