Strings Extravaganza

20th February 2012

Hymers students have joined string musicians from schools and colleges across East Yorkshire to form one big string orchestra in a bid to play at the Royal Albert Hall.
Almost 300 violinists, violists, cellists and bassists are collaborating to form an orchestra called 54° North.

The young musicians currently perform with the East Riding Youth Orchestra, the Hull Youth Orchestra and the orchestras of Hull Collegiate School and Hymers College.
They will take part in the Music For Youth Regional Festival on Saturday 3rd March at the Hull City Hall. Rehearsals took place recently in the Main Hall at Hymers.
