Old Hymerian talks at Assembly

This morning pupils heard from a former pupil - Dr David Gosling - who left Hymers in 1957. He gave a very interesting talk about his work in Pakistan where he was the Principal of the University College in 2006 for 4 years. He explained to the students about 'reading behind the headlines' of the press, and went on to give an insider's view of life in Pakistan, the conflict in Afghanistan and liaisons with taliban leaders. He explained that his priority whilst in Pakistan was to help increase the number of female students and staff, however whilst he was there he did receive a death threat for his work in promoting co-education.
Dr Gosling ended the assembly by expressing his gratitude to the school for his education.
