National Design Award for Former Pupil

Following on from his success as 'Young Engineer of Great Britain' last year with his Drumming Jeans invention, former pupil Aseem Mishra who left Hymers in July 2011, was awarded another National Design Award recently.  He  was crowned winner of the Key Stage 5 category in The Drapers’ Company/ EDT Composites & Smart Materials Awards 2011, and received his prize at the Sixth Annual Celebration & Awards Ceremony held at Drapers’ Hall on 22nd November 2011.

There were 80 entries, spread across 3 categories – Key Stage 4, Key Stage 5 and Undergraduate.  Aseem’s prizes included  a winner’s certificate, a smart materials book, and a £500 bursary to be spent on educational materials or activities relating to composites and smart materials.
