Charity Appeal

25th January 2012

The winter term was full of charity fundraising events as part of the whole school charity appeal.

Some of the activities that have already taken place are –

• 7A bake sale which raised £179
• Sindhu Ram (9A) did a sponsored silence and raised £100
• Over 200 gifts were donated to the Viking FM’s Toy Appeal
• Senior School non-uniform day raised an amazing £800

As well as these activities the winter term also saw a number of assemblies take place to raise awareness of the charities and how the money raised will be used by them.

In November Canine Partners came in to give an assembly about the support they provide to people with disabilities. The Homeless and Rootless charity will give an assembly to the pupils in the Senior School on 27th January, followed by the Dove House assembly and the Candlelighters Sixth Form lecture on 6th February.

Hymers will be holding a Charity Day on 29th March which will see each year group being involved in some kind of sponsored activity, for example, cardboard city, sponsored walk from Hull to Hornsea and back and the publication of the charity magazine.

Other charity events to look out for in the coming weeks are –

• Big clothes swap on 10th February at 7pm
• Dancing Dinner Ladies
• Public leg waxing for a male member of staff
• Public shaving of a staff member’s hair and beard
• 5-a-side football
