11/02/2010 - Chinese New Year at the Junior School

The whole of the Junior School took part in a special Chinese New Year day, organised by Mrs Gillett (D&T) and Mrs Harrison (Art). For the past few weeks, Year 4 have been making lanterns, Year 5 have been painting fans inspired by Chinese art, while Year 6 have been working with Mrs Harrison and visiting artist, Jehan, to make a spectacular Chinese dragon.

The morning was filled with many Chinese cultural activities and the day culminated with everyone taking part in the dragon parade - which was a spectacular event. This allowed the children to show off the things they have created and should bring the school good luck for the Year of the Tiger!
