09/02/2010 - Fencing successes
Over the Christmas holidays, Daniel Ming captained the Yorkshire men's Epee team at the Cadet Winton (inter-region) at Millfield School. Daniel, Aubrey Capern Burgess and their teammate, Joe Littler from Sheffield were the most successful team from Yorkshire, winning the mens Epee event, winning 9/9 of their team matches. The whole Yorkshire team finished 5th overall and the men's Epee team were presented with plates.
Also, Daniel and Aubrey have been selected for the National Fencing Academy.
The pair recently went to Sweden for the last international tournament of the year and performed well; Daniel was placed 31st and Aubrey 39th, out of 180 competitors.
Other recent successes include Sam Atkin, Year 6, who won the Kenilworth U11 Foil among a top national showing of 32 fencers and Ben Atkin, Year 9, achieved Bronze for U15 Foil.
