05/02/2010 - Dublin Trip

Last weekend sixteen of our Modern Historians and three staff travelled to Dublin to further their study of British and Irish relations in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The trip began with a bus tour of historic Dublin including all the major sites and sounds of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.

Students also visited the historic General Post Office, had a guided tour of Kilmainham Jail, and a tour of Dublin Castle. Further visits to the National Museum of Ireland, and a visit to Trinity College, which included a tour of the campus and a viewing of the famous old library and Book of Kells, rounded off the main educational aspect of the tour.

However, no tour of Dublin would be complete without a visit to the vibrant Temple Bar area and the world renowned Guinness Storehouse to sample the local cuisine.

A good time was had by all.
